Robert Oakes is an author, teacher, storyteller, and songwriter originally from northern New Jersey but currently residing in the Quiet Corner of Northeastern Connecticut after living nearly 20 years in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. The Ghostly Tales of the Berkshires, for young readers, released on August 7, 2023, is his third book. September 26, 2022, saw the release of his second book, Ghosts of Northwestern New Jersey, the follow-up to his 2020 debut, Ghosts of the Berkshires.  Since 2010, Robert has led the ghost tours at Edith Wharton's The Mount in Lenox, MA, and has represented the museum and its ghosts on Syfy’s Ghost Hunters, Jeff Belanger’s New England Legends series on PBS, and The Apple Seed show on BYUradio. In 2021, Robert also began leading ghost tours at Ventfort Hall and the Church on the Hill, both in Lenox. Robert has written and produced media for AAA, Canyon Ranch, and a number of other organizations and performs as part of the folk music duo Oakes and Smith. Robert has also taught elementary, middle, and high school English. He currently serves as associate director of communications for Rectory School in Pomfret, CT.
